Toys on Drugs II

In This post I wrote about a toy in Australia called Bindeez, that turned out to have a dangerous drug in its glue. It turns out it is the same thing as an American toy called Aquadots, now also recalled:

A friend told me about the UK distributor that has put up some rather *ahem* interesting comments about this case online. (the link is wwww.bindeez.net)

Here's a quote:

We have...in light of recent press reports from Australia, instructed an independent test laboratory and an independent EU toxicologist to immediately test and analyse the chemical composition of our stocks. We are taking this action in order to reconfirm their safety and to alleviate any concerns you may have with the product.

'Cos, like, you wouldn't want to trust those hysterical Aussies and Yanks. Even their scientists are nuts.

Or this comment:

In terms of product already in consumer’s homes, we again can confirm when used as intended and clearly instructed, the product is ages 4+ and we advise that Bindeez products are not given to children younger than this age. (sic)

Oh, well, fair enough then. I mean, it's not like any child over the age of 3 will EVER do anything that's weird or unpredictable, or ingest something they know is bad for them, right?

*smacks forehead*

Sometimes I wonder if the CEOs of toy companies even know children....

Yeah, older kids were using their teeth to separate stuck-together beads and stuff, assuming the toys were safe. And kids should be able to assume something is safe, if they're not told otherwise. And even when they know they shouldn't do something, sometimes they will, absentmindedly.

But now I suppose we'll have idiot teenagers taking their younger siblings' toys to try and get high. Not to mention idiot parents.
