Casserole Adventure.

I'm making broccoli casserole for my work's holiday potluck lunch tomorrow. I'm not sure how it will turn out - I've lost my great-aunt's recipe (which makes fantastic broccoli cassserole) twice or possibly three times by now, and wasn't about to ask her for it again (though it's entirely possible she might not remember I ask her for it every few years). So I looked for something similar on the internet. What I found seems like the casserole recipe, give or take a few minor details, but it is one of those confusingly-written recipes, out of order with ambiguous ways of listing quantities. I think I sorted it out, though . . .

For awhile I had little hope - the sauce was ridiculously lumpy, and I couldn't seem to fix it. Then I realized the heat had gone off under it. Duh. I switched the heat back on, and it rapidly smoothed out and thickened just as it ought. We can't have our triumphs without our failures, but it's always an especial triumph when the failure is quickly and easily fixable.
