Karma bandits

jojohnst0355 was talking about karma. Whenever I hear that word, I think of this story:

I was Christmas shopping at the mall. I went to one of the little kiosks, which sold rubber stamps, to buy one as a present. There was no one working at the booth. I waited awhile, and the girl who was running the booth eventually returned. I gave her the advice that she shouldn't leave the booth unattended like that, people could come and steal her stamps.

She said, "Well, thats their bad karma."

But is it really? If someone who would not ordinarily steal a rubber stamp steals one because its so damn easy, isn't it partially the bad karma of the person who made it easy for them?

I always thought karma was bad things you do, coming around to bite you in the ass. So karma would be, for her, purposely neglecting the booth and then getting fired (or some other, unrelated bad thing). Bad karma for the others would be them taking something and then getting hit by a bus.

I don't think that having a stamp stolen would be, for her, karmic.
