hormonal wonderings

I had an interesting thought today. There have been studies that show women are sexually attracted to different types of people at different points in their menstrual cycle. I wonder, what does that mean for women who are on birth control pills? Our cycles, on the pill, are drastically altered from a hormonal standpoint. Does that make us attracted to different types than we would be if not on the pill? Has anyone studied this aspect? Is this all a bunch of hooey, anyway?

Hormones
There have been studies performed on couples who met at different times such as when the woman was on the pill, and when she was off the pill.

From my understanding, 40% of all relationships that involved a change in the womans basic body chemistry (starting or stopping the pill) resulted in the end of a healthy long term relationship. And in a follow up study it was found that whether or not a girl was on affected whether or or not was found attractive by a man.

So a girl who is on the pill my be found attractive by man A, but if the girl was off the pill Man A had a 35% of not finding her attractive.

So yeah, a girls attractiveness and ability to coexist in a relationship are most certainly affected by her birth control status, and it is NOT a mental thing. They tested it with a placebo to make sure.

Hi Sharla! I found your LJ through okcupid and perused, and this one caught my eye.

Mainly cause it's my advisor's research. And soon to be mine :-)

Pill-using women should have preferences like non-ovulating women. Meaning, they should go for safe, resource-providing men for long-term relationships more than sexy, masculine men for short term relationships.

The stuff isn't hooey, and it's pretty stark and interesting, actually. Someday we hope to actually test this with pill using women, as well as post-menopausal women who similarly don't ovulate and therefore should not seek men for their genes.
