To van or not to van

So, perruche_verte and I will be moving to St. Paul at the end of the month. Every time I've moved in the past, I have hauled stuff with the generous loan of my dad's minivan (with the seats removed). However, he doesn't have the minivan anymore. I was thinking I'd rent one of those little moving trucks. Though none of our stuff is incredibly massive, there is a lot of it.

However, with the mere mention of moving on LJ, people have offered some use of a van and a pickup truck. I'm wondering whether we will need that moving truck or not. So I ask, local friends with vehicles of a size to haul furniture, would you be able to help out with some hauling, probably on the last weekend of August? How much time could you spare, and how much cargo space do you have? In exchange, if you ever move, I will load and unload to your heart's content. Or whatever other useful thing I can do for you.

Aldine and Van Buren. Near Snelling & Minnehaha and the Gingko coffeeshop. Near Hamline University.

It may just be worth the hassle to rent a Budget Truck. Little trucks and minivans are great, until you realize that you're spending half your time going back and forth between two places.

Tracy and I moved pretty much our entire household in one trip with a 16' truck from Budget Truck, and it cost us something like $80 for an entire day. Plus, the USPS change-of-address packets have coupons for an additional 10-20% off.

I just meant not a huge truck. If I go ahead and rent a truck it will be bigger than a minivan. We're moving things from two places anyway, so there's little point in doing it in one load.

Very moving, indeed
So you're talking about the 25, 26, 27th... I have Bean that weekend, but maybe she can be useful somehow.

And it's true: My heart was more than content when you helped me move. It was content, and there was still half a truckload left to unload. You never quit. It was awesome. So even if I have to leave Bean to be baby-sat by Silverback Gorillas at the Como Zoo, I will be there to help you move.

Re: Very moving, indeed
I'm not sure precisely when we'll be moving. I hope we can move Sam's stuff that weekend though, so he can be out of his apartment before the end of the month. My stuff is less urgent, though it might be good to move it all at once if it works out.

I have the 2 jobs, and on Saturday the 26th, Costco will be doing their semianual inventory, which means I work 6am to 6pm at Medtronic, and then 6:40pm (when I get to Costco) to 10:30-11:00pm at Costco followed by 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Sunday at Medtronic. :) Since I generally work from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm tues-friday, I can definatly help out with a few truckloads after work any of those days. I have a pickup, so that's always a party favorite at moving things. That and I'm big and strong. :) Just let me know, and maybe we can work some things out, maybe my fiance Dani can borrow the truck, and while she's not big and strong, she can definatly use it to drive loads from point a to point b. :)
