I am amused . . .

A coworker just comlimented me, in great detail, on my hairstyle today (up in a sort of twist/bun with a fancy clip). "It makes you look much younger and thinner, I try to get my wife to wear her hair like that," etc, he says. Making absolutely no mention of the fact that I'm dressed in a tight spandex Star Trek uniform. Is this the stereotypical male "I thought there was something different about you but I couldn't tell what it was" thing? Or is it more about the fact that I usually come into work with my hair a long witchy mess?

Makes me think of a story from my past. Once I stopped by my boyfriend's place right after picking up new glasses frames. After hanging out for awhile, I asked how he liked my new specs. He said, "Oh, I THOUGHT there was something different about you!" I launched into a critique of how clueless men are on changes in a person's personal appearance. In the middle of this speech, I realized he had grown a mustache.

Happy Halloween, everyone!

We I was young I learned to spot if mom had lost a pound or not as noticing if she lost would make her happy. I saw a movie version of "Our Town" once. What stuck with me was the girls birthday party when her mother never actually looks at her. I have striven to "see" the person I am with ever since.

Remember this fact about men .....

Unless you're naked and bringing us beer ..... we may not even notice your presence .....
