Meme of silly romantic things I love but expect people to think are silly:

I love the way Bob Dylan sings love songs (so long as he’s not singing at his worst, mind you). He wrote several good ones a few years back on “Time Out of Mind”. There are also a couple on “Planet Waves” that I love. Also, I have a rare covers album (titled simply “Bob Dylan”, oddly), seemingly available only on vinyl, on which he sings “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You”, and it’s my favorite ever rendition of that song.

Also, I love David Lee Roth’s song “Sensible Shoes” (Here are the lyrics, though they sound better with the music). And Mick Jagger’s solo album “Wandering Spirit” also has some great love songs, especially “Hang on to Me Tonight” and “Evening Gown” (though I sometimes parody the latter).

Oh, and I sing the Moody Blues’ “Nights in White Satin” at karaoke. Enough said.

Runaway Bride. It’s a good love story, and all the weddings are very amusingly funny.

Heartbreakers. Another funny one, a mother-daughter con artist team, and again, a good love story.

And I’ve been told I’m silly for crying at the end of Moulin Rouge, though I disagree.

The first two books of Mercedes Lackey’s “Bedlam’s Bard” series (“Knight of Ghosts and Shadows” and “Summoned to Tourney”) written with Ellen Guon. For silly elfy urban fantasy, they’re very well written, and a major part of them is the story of three people (ok, one of them’s an elf) all falling in love with each other and starting a stable threesome relationship.

Speaking of Mercedes Lackey, she and her husband Larry Dixon wrote their own wedding vows, and they went like this:

Larry: “Your eyes!”

Mercedes: “Your ass!”

And I find that very sweet and amusing, though not really my style, personally.

I thought "Time Out of Mind" was a pretty good album. Not my favorite Dylan album, but a good listen nonetheless.

I'd love to hear you sing "Nights in White Satin". I love that song.

Oooh... a girl who appreciates Dylan. That's so hot. :)

the lyrics to sensible shoes make me really happy. I had not seen them before and cant recall having heard this tune.
