Healthy food

So, perruche_verte and I have started a personal project to eat healthier. The primary plan is to eat more raw foods/living foods and less cooked foods in which the enzymes have been killed off. Some foods just can't be prepared that way, and they are generally the less healthy ones. I am trying to gradually switch my habits over. I'm not going to try to eat completely raw, though. I don't want the stress.

I'm not going to be strict about it: when the choice is to go hungry, eat something I dislike, or eat something not in accordance with the diet, I'm going to go with the latter. When I'm out at restaurants or friends' houses, I will try to eat reasonably healthily, but not strictly.

Anyhow, yesterday evening perruche_verte and I prepared a lot of yummy food of my own invention. This was all prepared fairly in accordance with a raw food diet.

Salad topping: Slice a bunch of mushrooms. Slice a small beet very thinly (I used a vegetable peeler). Marinate together in balsamic vinegar while preparing rest of food. These were really good.

Salad dressing: Put one avocado and a wedge of blue cheese in blender. Squirt in some lemon juice to keep avocado fresh. Add a little milk/soymilk. Blend. Add more milk if its thicker than you want. Makes an awesome blue cheese dressing. You don't taste the avocado very much.

Salad itself: arugula, spinach, tomato, alfalfa sprouts.

Assemble in desired proportions, sprinkle sunflower seeds on top if you want.

SMOOTHIES:These I've been making for most of my life, and ingredients vary, but this time it was:
1 banana, 1 peach, 1 mango, 1-2 apples, 1/2pkg frozen blueberries, 2 scoops spiru-tein, soy milk to make more liquid. Liquefy in blender.

First I chopped a bunch of pecans and walnuts together in a food processor. Then I processed dates and a bunch of fresh ginger with a little cloves and cinnamon, adding a little water, just enough to keep it mixing neatly. Then I took balls of the date-ginger mix, and rolled them around in the nuts until they were coated, flattened them into patties, and laid them on a cookie sheet and put it in the fridge. Mmm, these are really good and were fun to make.
